Meet Our Professional Staff

Our camp placement professionals possess the expertise and experience to help you find just the right camp for your child.

Renee Flax

Renee graduated Syracuse University (1971) with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Renee attended summer camp for 15 years as a camper, counselor, and group leader. She is the mother of two grown daughters who were also long time campers. She has been the Director of the Public Guidance Service for almost a decade and serves as a resource to parents and to the community. She has an extensive knowledge of camp programs and philosophies. Each summer, Renee travels to dozens of ACA accredited camps. She knows the camp directors and senior staff personally and has a keen dunderstanding of each camp's philosophy, program and facilities. She is recognized as an authority on camping and has been featured on the topic on television and in The New York Times, The New York Post, Newsday, The Journal News, Parent Guide and Tween's.

Robin Wenczl

Robin graduated Oneonta State University (1988) with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Tufts University (1990). Robin is a certified Guidance Counselor and worked for over 10 years as a psychotherapist. She has been an ACA-NY guidance professional for over 5 years. Robin's love for and knowledge about camp extend from her 20 years as a camper, counselor, activity specialist and unit leader. Robin has also written camp articles for various publications.

Together Renee and Robin have placed over 2000 campers in camps throughout the Northeast. They offer personalized service to well over 1000 parents each year.


The mission of ACA-NY's Camp Placement Service is to communicate to the public the positive growth experiences available through children's summer camps and to promote better camp experiences for all by professional guidance in matching specific experiences sought with appropriate ACA-Accredited Camps.
