Rocket Age Enterprises is a distributor of Estes and Quest model rocketry supplies, electronics kits and White Wing paper gliders. We have served camps and schools for over 25 years. We ship within 24 hours and give educational discounts. Service is our motto and we have a educational and technical assistance program that can get your camp started with these great programs.
Model rocketry is a safe, educational and fun hobby that camps use as a part of their arts and crafts program. Kids build cardboard/balsa wood model rockets, paint, and launch them, typically in a five day program. Model rockets range from skill level 0-3. A skill level 1 rocket such as the Wizard or Viking takes about 2 1/2 hours to build and paint, usually a three to four day period if your sessions are 45 minutes long. Launching takes place on the fifth day and the whole camp can watch the launch! The Wizard lifts off to 1000 ft. so you will need a baseball size field to launch. Electronically launched from home plate, the rocket travels in a trajectory that brings it about 350 ft. into left or center field. A small charge deploys the recovery system, either a parachute or orange streamer and the rocket gently descends to earth. Model rockets are fully recoverable and can be launched over and over again. All you need is a new engine!
Model rocketry can be done for as little as $4.00 per child. Many kids build more than one rocket and become quite skilled at this activity during camp. This is a great group activity. You can hold contests between cabins for spot recovery, altitude, velocity and craftsmanship/design. The kids take their rockets home after camp and can resume the hobby with mom or dad. They tell friends they learned model rocketry at camp. It is a great recruiting tool. Be warned: Model rocketry takes off!
We also supply electronic kits and White Wing gliders for additional camp activities. Come see us at booth number 703 for a catalog and more information. We will be happy to tell you how to start a model rocketry program in your camp!
